Eccentric Training in Cary, NC
The One Session Method -- private eccentric overload training for active aging adults and athletes in the Research Triangle.
One Session Per Week. More Benefit Than Four or Five at the Gym.
That is not a marketing claim. It is the science of eccentric overload training, and it changes everything you thought you knew about how strength actually works.
Most training programs load the concentric phase — the push, the pull, the lift — and leave the eccentric phase undertrained. Not because trainers choose to ignore it. Because conventional equipment simply cannot load the eccentric phase beyond the concentric maximum. Weights, bands, cables — they all cap at what you can lift. The eccentric phase — the controlled lowering, the lengthening under load, the deceleration — generates 30 to 75 percent more force than the concentric phase. It is where the most significant neuromuscular and hypertrophic adaptations happen. And in most programs it has never been trained to its true potential.
The One Session Method fixes that by training the eccentric phase only — with maximum concentric intent driving every single rep. The Synapse CCR's patented mechanism makes that independent eccentric calibration possible. And The
One Session Method takes it further — isolating the eccentric phase entirely, the way Coach Keith programs it, to reach a level of overload that conventional equipment cannot provide.

One session per week works because you are finally training the phase of movement that actually produces the adaptation — and only that phase, at true overload. One session is enough because nothing is left undertrained.

Who This Is For
Active Aging Adults, 40-Plus
If you are in your 40s, 50s, 60s, or beyond and serious about staying strong, mobile, and physically capable for the long haul -- not just looking good for summer -- this was built for you.
The professionals, executives, and retirees in Cary, Raleigh, Apex, and Holly Springs who take longevity seriously are exactly who The One Session Method was designed for. One hour per week. No joint-grinding volume. No two-hour workouts that leave you wrecked for days. Just a complete eccentric stimulus that conventional training has never been able to deliver -- and full recovery before you come back next week.
Eccentric training is particularly well-supported in research for adults over 40 because it delivers high muscle stimulus at substantially lower metabolic cost than conventional training and produces the muscle mass and neuromuscular adaptations that matter most as we age. You are not training for a competition. You are training to be strong and capable at 70, 80, and beyond.
Athletes
If you compete -- in any sport, at any level -- you already know that the ability to decelerate, absorb force, and redirect explosively is what separates performance from injury. Every sport demands it. Most training programs never specifically develop it.
Research documents that during rapid deceleration events, peak muscle activation can reach 161 percent of maximal voluntary isometric contraction. For sprinting athletes, soccer players, basketball players, and anyone whose sport demands explosive stopping, building that capacity through calibrated eccentric overload is what the Synapse delivers.
Hamstring strains are the most prevalent soft tissue injury in sprinting sports, with recurrence rates reaching 31 percent. The mechanism is insufficient eccentric force capacity. The Synapse CCR addresses builds that capacity through controlled supramaximal eccentric loads.
The same technology trusted by athletes across the MLB, NFL, NBA, ATP, WTA, LIV Golf, and Olympic programs is available to you in a private training environment in Cary, NC.

What The One Session Method Looks Like
Every session takes place in Coach Keith's private training garage in Cary, NC -- a purpose-built eccentric training environment with commercial rubber flooring, the Synapse CCR, and yes, industrial fans for the Carolina summers. This is not a commercial gym. There are no mirrors, no machines you do not need, and no distractions. One hour. One device. Full focus on you.
Every set follows the same protocol. You generate maximum concentric effort -- you are trying to push or pull the entire time. The Synapse CCR overpowers that effort and drives you through the eccentric phase under true overload. You never complete the concentric. That is the point. The muscle is being loaded eccentrically at a level it literally cannot overcome concentrically. That is where the adaptation happens. That is what conventional training has never been able to deliver.
Each set is 5 reps, lasting 60 to 90 seconds. A full session runs 12 to 15 sets and hits the entire body. You leave spent in a way that four days at the gym never produces -- because four days at the gym never actually loaded the phase where the work gets done.
One on one, or couples sessions for two. No group classes. No distractions. The work is the whole point.
You are trying to lift the whole time. You never can. That is the point. Every rep is maximum concentric intent against an eccentric overload that wins every time. Twelve to fifteen sets. Full body. One hour. Once a week.
What Clients Say
"I trusted Keith because I know he has been helping people with their fitness goals for years. The Synapse system surpassed anything I have ever done. I am almost 60, a very busy construction executive, and with this I only have to do resistance training about one hour per week. That is a game changer. I feel strong and lean."
Kent, 60 -- Construction Executive, Cary NC
"I have been training with the Synapse for over a year. Eccentric loading is the most effective tool I have found for building strength and maintaining fitness. A single 45-minute session per week totally taxes my muscles and builds overall body strength. Keith consistently creates athletic movements each session to confuse the muscles and promote rapid gains. I can't recommend it enough."
Brad, 68 -- Cary NC
"Weights are gone. I wish I had known about the Synapse when I was playing college soccer. Game changer for sure."
Austin, 26 -- Athlete, Raleigh NC
"I am a 61-year-old woman who has never been into fitness. Keith convinced me to give it a try. Never would I have expected that minimal eccentric reps would have such an impact. I feel stronger and more confident every session. Post-workout -- especially day two -- I know exactly how much effort I put out. It is truly a workout you have to experience to believe."
Jane, 61 -- Cary NC
"The Synapse is a game changer for those who want a serious workout once per week with results better than going to the gym four or five times per week. Highly recommend."
Ed, 57 -- Cary NC
"I have done training classes at Lifetime, my own workouts, and never gotten the results that 30 to 45 minutes once a week has gotten me. I hadn't worked out in a long time and my arms were weak. Keith encouraged me and pushed me to get stronger every week. You can be a beginner or already super fit and Keith will design the perfect workout for you."
Lynn, 68 -- Cary NC

Frequently Asked Questions
Why is one session per week enough?
Because The One Session Method trains the eccentric phase only — at true overload. Every rep the client generates maximum concentric effort. The resistance wins every time, driving the muscle through the eccentric phase at a load it literally cannot overcome concentrically. The eccentric phase generates 30 to 75 percent more force than the concentric phase and is where the most significant neuromuscular and hypertrophic adaptations happen. Twelve to fifteen sets, 5 reps each, full body. The stimulus is complete in a way that conventional training never achieves regardless of how many days per week you train. Full recovery before the next session is not a limitation. It is the correct protocol.
Why do conventional programs focus on the concentric phase?
Because conventional equipment can only load the concentric phase. Weights cap at what you can lift. Bands drop resistance through the eccentric return. Flywheel devices tie eccentric load to concentric effort rather than calibrating it independently. None of them can deliver eccentric-only overload where the client generates maximum concentric intent and the resistance overpowers it every rep. The Synapse CCR can. The gap in conventional training is a tool problem, not a knowledge problem. Coach Keith's protocol takes that tool and programs it specifically for eccentric-only training — isolating the phase where true overload lives.
I am in my 50s and have not trained seriously in years. Is this right for me?
Yes. The Synapse CCR calibrates to your actual current capacity from the first session. There is no standard weight you have to hit before you can use it. Many of Coach Keith's active aging clients started after years away from structured training and found the protocol produced meaningful results in less time than conventional approaches they had tried before.
I am a competitive athlete. Will one session per week move the needle?
It will move the needle on the specific capacities most athletes have never specifically trained — eccentric deceleration force, neuromuscular adaptations that support explosive stopping, and directional change capacity. One Synapse session per week as a supplement to your existing sport-specific training addresses the eccentric loading gap that conventional strength training leaves open.
Where exactly is the training garage?
The garage is in Cary, NC. The exact address is shared when you book your first session. It is a private facility, centrally located and easy to reach from Raleigh, Apex, and Holly Springs.
Can my spouse or training partner join me?
Yes. Couples sessions are available for two people training together in the same hour at $150. Many of Coach Keith's active aging clients train as couples — it adds accountability and makes the weekly session something both people look forward to.
Is this appropriate if I have had a previous injury?
